Ostalgie

The Germans have a nicely coined portmanteau term for the recent emergence of nostalgia for the sights and sounds of (former) East Germany: they call it "Ostalgie"... Our feelings for the East Coast in general, and New York in particular, are stirred up by this great photo blog: Forgotten New York. Drill down a few levels, it rewards you with surprising vistas of a past you never knew existed, and traces of a future that never quite materialized.
